Gardening Calendar

November  Time to put the garden to bed.  Turn all the dead plants into the soil, put away your tools in a weather proof spot. Survey the teachers to see how the garden helped this year and what might be done differently next year to help them in their classrooms.

December - March Consider choosing one week a month to compost from your cafeteria.  You can use fruit peels, rinds and cores, raw vegetables shavings, vegetables based ink newspapers, coffee grinds and tea bags.  You will be glad you did it when Spring arrives and you have gorgeous compost to add to your soil.

Also use this time to make a list of what is needed in the garden after tallying the results of the survey.  Find out what worked, what could be improved
